The Artist

My name is Gabby Gorman. I was born in 2006 in Southwest Ohio. I have been painting for my whole life, but it wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school that I started to take it seriously. In that year, I fell in love with drawing and painting. Whenever I was creating, it felt like I was transported to another world, a world where every feeling could be seen right in front of my eyes. It helped tune out the boisterous world around me, leaving space for just me and the piece I was crafting. I started painting all the time, at school and at home, and on this journey I became fascinated with nature. The vibrancy of the colorful sky, the untouched elegance of flowers, and the unique beauty in every tree stole my breath away. I began to go on hiking trails just to look up at the tree leaves forming intricate patterns. I just knew I needed to capture these in my art. One of my favorite places to visit is the trail down to the creek behind my house. That trail was the path to a world that allowed me to open my eyes to how lovely the earth is. Every little piece of nature was like a brushstroke on a canvas, all working together to depict the greatest artwork there could ever be. I believe that people take nature and all of its wonder for granted. And so, my goal in all of my paintings is to convey the emotions that surface when I paint, all in hopes that people will relate to or even just discover the things that have totally captivated me throughout my life. I want people to see a bit of my soul in my paintings that are displayed in galleries or their homes, allowing them to feel the same as how I did when I created them.
